From early to midsummer my backyard garden is graced with these lovely blooms. The daisy is my favorite flower. I am not certain why that happened, but I think it is because it was the one flower that grew wild in the summer at the camp that I attended. It was so simple and beautiful and added color to the lush green forest that was all around.
Since it is a perennial, I can count on it as being one of the mainstays in my backyard garden. How many of us as a child picked a daisy and pulled off the petals saying "he loves me" "he loves me not"? The simple daisy flower became something very special.
Did you know that the daisy had many other uses besides being a beautiful and simple flower? The flower buds and petals can be eaten raw in sandwiches, soups and salads and also used to make tea. They are also used in medicine. The are used for treating some trauma in animals and also used to treat wounds.
